In short
For a Cabot Citrus Farms golf trip, stay in the resort's 2 and 4 bedroom cottages near Brooksville, Florida, close to all four courses with a free shuttle around the property. You can play without staying: day guests book up to 6 months ahead, while resort guests book tee times with their cottage, further out, and pay a little less (2027 peak rates for Karoo and Roost start from 349 USD a round for resort guests and 369 USD for day guests). If the cottages are full, chain hotels where SR 50 meets the Suncoast Parkway are about 16 minutes away. Peak season runs mid January to early May and again from October 1 to late November; December is cheaper.

How tee times work
Resort guests reserve tee times when they book a cottage, which the resort says can be 12 to 18 months ahead; day guests can book online up to 6 months out. Cancel within 48 hours and you pay for the round. From December 1 to March 31 a caddie is required on Karoo and Roost for tee times before 10:00 and for anyone in a cart; the rest of the year caddies are optional. Ask for a caddie by email at least 48 hours before your round.
A sensible plan
Four nights covers everything. Arrive in the afternoon and play The Wedge under the lights, then Karoo and Roost on days two and three, adding a same day replay or The Squeeze in the afternoon. Use the last morning for your favorite 18 before the drive to Tampa. From December to March, book a caddie for any tee time before 10:00.
Getting there
