In short
For a Streamsong golf trip, stay at the resort: it sits alone on old phosphate mining land in rural Polk County, Florida, and the Lodge and the group Clubhouse (plus Golf Cabins booking for 2027) are the only beds close to the courses. You can play without staying, but outside golfers can book only 30 days ahead and usually pay more; the nearest hotel off the resort, a Best Western near Bowling Green, is about 35 minutes away by car. Winter and spring are the main season, with the top 2027 rates from mid January to April, so book early for those months.

How tee times work
All five courses take both resort guests and day guests. If you stay, add golf to your room booking and pay the lower resort guest rate; if you don't, you can book up to 30 days ahead online or on (888) 294-6322. The resort is built around walking with a caddie: from Christmas Eve to the end of February Red, Blue and Black are walking only, and riding at any other time means paying for a cart and a group caddie. Tee times before 08:00 are for foursomes with a caddie, and caddies are not guaranteed if you book less than 72 hours ahead.
Closures to know about
Greens aerification closes each course in summer 2027: Bone Valley June 28 to July 8, Red July 11 to 22, Black July 27 to August 5, Blue and The Chain August 15 to 26. From June to September Blue and The Chain close all day Monday, Red Tuesday and Black Wednesday for maintenance. From October 1 to November 30, Blue closes at 11:00 on Mondays, Red on Tuesdays and Black on Wednesdays. The resort itself is closed Monday and Tuesday in July and August.
A sensible plan
Four nights lets you play all four 18 hole courses. Arrive by early afternoon and walk 13 holes of The Chain, play Red, Blue and Black on the next three mornings, then Bone Valley on the last morning before the drive to the airport. Add a fifth night for a replay of your favorite, and from June to November check the weekly maintenance closures before you set the order.
Getting there
Fly into Tampa (TPA), about 57 miles and 1.5 hours away, or Orlando (MCO), about 86 miles and closer to 2 hours by car. Ride share apps drop off at Streamsong but do not pick up, so rent a car or book a car service for the trip back.
Practical notes
- Walking
- Streamsong is built for walking. Carts can be used on Red, Blue and Black from March 1 to December 23 for 35 USD a person, always with a group caddie; from December 24 to February 28 these courses are walking only. Bone Valley is walking only until April 2027. The Chain is always walking only.
- Caddies
- Caddies are independent and paid directly by the golfer, in cash or by Venmo or Zelle. Recommended fee for a walking caddie: 120 USD per player carrying double, 150 USD single bag, plus a tip. A group caddie is 60 USD per player plus a tip and is required whenever you ride. Caddies are needed early in the day (the resort mentions both the first three tee times and tee times before 08:00) and are not guaranteed if you book less than 72 hours ahead. No caddies on The Chain.
- Shuttle
- Free shuttle around the resort between the Lodge, clubhouses and courses. Uber and Lyft will drop off at Streamsong but do not pick up there, so arrange a car service for the trip out (the resort lists Destination MCO, Sundance Limo and All Access).
- Stay rules
- Room rates are for lodging only; golf, dining and activities are added one by one. A resort fee covers The Link (first six holes of The Chain), valet parking, on resort transport and Wi-Fi. Most rooms take 2 adults. Groups are limited to four players (eight on The Chain). Rain checks only when the course closes. The resort is cashless from July 1, 2026, and pets are not allowed.
- Summer
- Summer rates are the lowest of the year, but courses close on set weekdays for maintenance, each course closes for 10 to 12 days of greens aerification between June 28 and August 26, 2027, and the resort is closed Monday and Tuesday in July and August.

Streamsong golf trip questions
Do you have to stay at Streamsong to play?
No. Day guests can play all the courses, but they can book only 30 days ahead and in most periods pay more than resort guests, for example 445 USD against 395 USD for an 18 hole round from mid January to April 2027.
How much does it cost to play Streamsong?
For Red, Blue and Black, resort guests pay 170 USD in high summer up to 395 USD from January 14 to April 30, 2027, plus 35 USD if you take a cart. The Chain is 95 USD for resort guests. Caddie fees are paid to the caddie on top.
Can you ride a cart at Streamsong?
Yes on Red, Blue and Black from March 1 to December 23, but every riding group needs a group caddie. From December 24 to February 28 those courses are walking only, Bone Valley is walking only until April 2027, and The Chain is always walking only.
How much is a caddie at Streamsong?
The resort recommends 120 USD per player for a caddie carrying two bags, or 150 USD for a single bag, plus a tip. A group caddie for riders is 60 USD per player plus a tip. You pay the caddie directly.
How far is Streamsong from Tampa and Orlando?
About 57 miles from Tampa International and 86 miles from Orlando International. Allow about 1.5 hours from Tampa and about 2 hours from Orlando.
Where can I stay near Streamsong besides the resort?
Very few. The nearest is a Best Western near Bowling Green, about 35 minutes away. A Best Western in Mulberry and two chain hotels in Bartow are 40 to 50 minutes away on rural roads. Staying at the resort saves that drive and gets you the lower green fee.
