In short
The Grand Strand runs about 60 miles, so for a Myrtle Beach golf trip stay near the courses you most want to play: Barefoot Resort or North Myrtle Beach for Barefoot and Tidewater, Grande Dunes for the Dunes Club and Grande Dunes, and Pawleys Island or Murrells Inlet for Caledonia, True Blue and TPC Myrtle Beach. Every course here takes public tee times except the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, which sells a limited number of guest tee times, none to unaccompanied guests on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, and closes on Mondays in winter and summer. Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are peak season, so book tee times as soon as your dates are set.

Courses you can play in Myrtle Beach
-
Open to the public
Caledonia Golf & Fish Club
Mike Strantz's first course, a par 70 under old oaks beside the Pawleys Island marsh, open since 1994. Public, with seasonal rates that include cart, tax and range balls.
Public. Book online through the club's booking site or on 1-800-483-6800. The club does not publish how far ahead you can book. Range use at True Blue, across the road, comes with every round, and carts are included. Walking depends on the day's tee sheet, so ask the golf shop. A two round special covers Caledonia and True Blue if you play one round at each within 7 days. Caledonia Golf Vacations sells stay and play packages (3 night minimum and 3 rounds) and golf only packages (3 rounds).
-
Open to the public
True Blue Golf Club
Strantz's second Pawleys Island course, across the road from Caledonia, with very wide fairways, big sandy areas and an 18 acre practice ground. Public, and paired with Caledonia on a two round special.
Public. Book on the same booking site as Caledonia or on 1-888-483-6800. No booking window is published. The Caledonia and True Blue two round special and the Caledonia Golf Vacations packages cover both courses.

Limited visitor times
Dunes Golf and Beach Club
The oceanfront Robert Trent Jones course in Myrtle Beach that hosts the PGA Tour's Myrtle Beach Classic. A private club with limited guest tee times: none for unaccompanied guests on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, and the course closes on Mondays in winter and summer.
A private club with a limited number of guest tee times, which depend on the day and time. Guests without a member cannot play on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, and the club closes on Mondays for maintenance in the winter and summer months. Search the club's guest booking site; you hold a time with a credit card and can pay one by one when you arrive. A time you book and do not show up for is charged the full green fee, so call the club to cancel. Questions go to 843-449-5914. The club hosts the PGA Tour's Myrtle Beach Classic from May 13 to 16, 2027 (with pro-ams on Monday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 12), so do not count on a guest time that week until the club publishes its closure dates.
-
Open to the public
TPC Myrtle Beach
A par 72 in Murrells Inlet with a full practice area, open to the public and booked online.
Public, 18 holes, par 72, in Murrells Inlet. Book on the course's online booking site or through a golf package. No booking window is published. TPC Myrtle Beach belongs to the Founders Group, which sells multi-course packages.
-
Open to the public
Tidewater Golf Club
A public course in North Myrtle Beach on a strip of land between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Cherry Grove marsh, where half the holes run beside the water. It often sells out, so book ahead.
Public. Book online or on 843-913-2424; the club takes walk-ons but says it often sells out, so book ahead. No booking window is published. Cancel at least 72 hours before your tee time. Course carts only (no private carts), and no outside alcohol or coolers. The 2027 aeration runs from the afternoon of Sunday, August 1 to Sunday, August 8, and the course reopens on Monday, August 9.
-
Open to the public
Barefoot Resort
Four courses open to visitors in North Myrtle Beach by Pete Dye, Davis Love III, Tom Fazio and Greg Norman (the Dye Course is semi-private but sells public tee times). The Dye Course is the toughest and has its own clubhouse; play all four for 25% off each round.
Four 18 hole courses open to visitors, by Pete Dye, Davis Love III, Tom Fazio and Greg Norman. The Dye Course is the resort's only semi-private course but sells public tee times like the other three, and it has its own clubhouse and range. Book online or on 843-390-3200; the resort recommends booking ahead for its peak spring and fall months and publishes no booking window. Singles are booked ahead only if they can be paired, and 9 hole rounds only on the day. Carts are included and required. On a package, tee times need 72 hours' notice per foursome to cancel.
Green fee: $225 (2027) · Course site ↗

Open to the public
Grande Dunes Resort Club
A Roger Rulewich design on a bluff above the Intracoastal Waterway, next to the Marina Inn. Public, and booked online.
Public. Book on the course's online booking site. No booking window is published. The course sits on a bluff above the Intracoastal Waterway, next to the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes, and is part of the same Founders Group booking system as TPC Myrtle Beach.
How tee times work
Six of the seven entries here take public tee times, so you book them yourself online or by phone, either one course at a time or as part of a package with lodging. None of the clubs publishes how far ahead you can book, so book as soon as your dates are firm, especially for spring and fall, when Barefoot and Caledonia say demand peaks. The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is private but releases some guest times on its own booking site, though not for unaccompanied guests on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends. Most clubs price each tee time by date and time of day; Barefoot publishes 'starting at' rates by season.
Closures to know about
2027 aerification at Barefoot Resort: Fazio June 7 to 12, Dye June 21 to 27, Love July 5 to 10, Norman July 19 to 24, and the resort says to allow 10 to 12 days after each for the greens to recover (dates subject to change). Tidewater aerates from the afternoon of Sunday, August 1 to Sunday, August 8, 2027 and reopens on Monday, August 9. The Dunes Golf and Beach Club closes on Mondays for maintenance in the winter and summer months, and hosts the PGA Tour's Myrtle Beach Classic from May 13 to 16, 2027 with pro-ams on Monday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 12; the club has not published when guest play stops around it. Caledonia, True Blue, TPC Myrtle Beach and Grande Dunes have not published 2027 maintenance dates.
A sensible plan
For a four night trip, split your stay so you are never far from the first tee: two nights at Barefoot Resort or in North Myrtle Beach for a Barefoot course and Tidewater, then two nights in Pawleys Island or Murrells Inlet for Caledonia, True Blue and TPC Myrtle Beach. If you want the Dunes Club, fit it in on your way south on a Sunday to Thursday, since unaccompanied guests cannot play it on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, and skip Mondays in winter and summer, when it closes for maintenance. Book Caledonia and the Dunes Club first and build the rest around them.
Getting there
Fly into Myrtle Beach International (MYR). In light traffic, Grande Dunes and the Dunes Club are about 20 to 25 minutes away, TPC Myrtle Beach about 25 to 30, Barefoot Resort about 32, Caledonia and True Blue about 40 and Tidewater about 45. You will want a car, since the courses spread along about 50 miles of road from Tidewater to Caledonia and US 17 gets busy.
Practical notes
- Carts
- Carts are included in the rate at Caledonia, True Blue and Barefoot, and Barefoot requires them. Tidewater allows only its own carts.
- Walking
- At Caledonia, walking depends on the day's tee sheet; ask the golf shop. Barefoot requires carts.
- Dress code
- Caledonia and Barefoot require collared shirts and no denim, and Caledonia allows soft spikes only (no metal spikes). Tidewater prefers collared shirts and asks golfers to avoid denim. Check each club for its own rules.
- Juniors
- Tidewater lets juniors 16 and under play free with a full-paying adult all year. Caledonia and True Blue list a 29 USD junior rate in their summer 2027 specials (12 and under any time, 17 and under after noon).
- Cancelling
- Tidewater asks for 72 hours' notice to cancel. Barefoot packages need 72 hours' notice per foursome to cancel tee times. The Dunes Club charges the full green fee for a guest time left unused; call 843-449-5914 to cancel (it publishes no notice period).
- Stay rules
- Barefoot Resort lodging is individually owned 2, 3 and 4 bedroom condos rented through several property managers, with no central check-in; check-in is usually 16:00 and check-out 10:00, so check out before a last-day round. The resort also books the Yacht Club Villas and the Dye Club Cottages, and lists the Courtyard Marriott and North Beach Resort and Villas (an oceanfront property in North Myrtle Beach, not on the resort) as lodging partners.
- Alcohol
- Tidewater does not allow outside alcohol or personal coolers.

Myrtle Beach golf trip questions
Can visitors play the Dunes Golf and Beach Club?
Yes, on a limited basis. The Dunes Club is private but releases some guest tee times on its booking site, depending on the day and time. Guests without a member cannot play on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, and the course hosts the PGA Tour's Myrtle Beach Classic from May 13 to 16, 2027.
Where should I stay for a Myrtle Beach golf trip?
Stay near the courses you will play, because the Grand Strand is about 60 miles long. Barefoot Resort and North Myrtle Beach suit Barefoot and Tidewater, Grande Dunes suits the Dunes Club and Grande Dunes, and Pawleys Island or Murrells Inlet suit Caledonia, True Blue and TPC Myrtle Beach. On a longer trip, split your nights between the north and south ends.
How far ahead can I book Myrtle Beach tee times?
None of the top clubs publishes a booking window. Book as soon as your dates are firm, especially for March to May and September to November, which Barefoot and Caledonia call peak season. Packages through the clubs' own golf vacation desks can lock in tee times and lodging together.
How much does a round cost at the best Myrtle Beach courses?
It depends on the course, season and time of day. Barefoot publishes 'starting at' rates for 2027: from 225 USD on Thursdays to Saturdays and Sunday mornings from April 1 to 21, and from 124 USD on those days from June 14 to August 4, and the resort says prices move with demand. Caledonia and True Blue rates include cart, tax and range balls, and the other courses price each tee time by date on their booking sites.
When is the best time for a golf trip to Myrtle Beach?
Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are the peak seasons, with the most demand and the highest rates. Summer is cheaper, with Caledonia and True Blue summer specials from June 21 to August 31, 2027, but watch for aerification dates at some courses in June to August.
Which airport is closest to the Myrtle Beach golf courses?
Myrtle Beach International (MYR) is in town, about 20 to 25 minutes from Grande Dunes and the Dunes Club in light traffic and about 40 to 45 minutes from Caledonia at the south end and Tidewater at the north end.
